Spider-Man: The Chameleon's Many Faces is a children's book based on Spider-Man: The Animated Series. The story was written by Michael Stewart, illustrated by Ken Steacy, and published by Fun Works books. The story was released in 1996.
J. Jonah Jameson throws Peter Parker out of the Daily Bugle offices, telling Peter to come back when he has some good photos. On the way out, Peter encounters his friend, wealthy society A-lister Felicia Hardy. Felicia then invites Peter to come to a party she is throwing on her yacht later that night.
Chameleon is at the meeting to deliver a secret data disc to Rhino and Shocker. Spider-Man then swings down and grabs the disc. However, Shocker zaps Spidey with his Vibro-Shock Gauntlets. Spider-Man then loses the disc but he recovers from the attack and captures Shocker and Rhino. Suddenly the whole area lights up and Nick Fury and several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents swarm down from the sky. However, they are too late and Chameleon vanishes with the disc. Fury is angered at Spider-Man who reveals that the disc Chameleon had contained plans for the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier and Spider-Man messed up Fury's mission to recover the disc.
However, Spider-Man knows how to recover the disc. He knows that Chameleon always hides in crowds and the only nearby crowd is at Felicia's yacht party. Spider-Man and Fury then go to the yacht party and reveal Felicia Hardy as the Chameleon is disguise. Chameleon then throws down a smoke grenade and changes his appearance to look like J. Jonah Jameson. However, Spider-Man is able to identify Chameleon and Spider-Man captures him. Chameleon is then arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. and they recover the data disc. Spider-Man then reveals that he was able to place a Spider-Tracer on the Chameleon earlier and that is how he was able to find him.
As the story ends Peter gets some photos for the Daily Bugle and gets to dance with Felicia Hardy.
