Lewald was an assassin for Herbert Landon but secretly worked as a spy for the Kingpin.
History[]
Lewald was hired by Kingpin to spy on Herbert Landon and his research into creating a army of Super Mutants for Kingpin.
On orders from Herbert Landon, Lewald and his men kept an eye on the Xavier Mansion so they could capture a mutant for Landon's research. Lewald and his men ended up capturing Beast. Lewald then took Beast to the Brand Corporation where Beast learned that Herbert Landon was planning to destroy all mutants on Earth.
Lewald later learned that Herbert Landon intended to destroy all mutants instead of creating an army of super mutants. Lewald then reported this to Kingpin and Kingpin ordered Lewald to leave the Brand Corporation because he no longer needed a spy there.
