2099 Reviews: Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994-1998)

Spider-Man: The Animated Series is a 1994 television series that is one of my personal favorites.

  1. Cohesive story arcs.
  2. Appearances from characters from other '90s shows, like X-Men and Iron Man.
  3. Has some of the best versions of Spider-Man and his supporting characters.
    1. Giving this more backstory, maybe waiting seasons before giving them their alter ego personas.
    2. Made for 3-Dimension character personalities, even making J. Jonah Jameson at least semi-likable in the process.
  4. Christopher Daniel Barnes has become one of the definitive voices of Spider-Man.

  1. It's about as out of lip-sync as a Japanese monster flick.
  2. There are some truly corny lines of dialogue.
  3. After a while, you notice that Spider-Man never punches anyone!

R.I.P. Stan Lee

I have found out some sad, sad news today. Stan Lee has passed away today at the age of 95. Stan Lee built the Marvel Universe that we know today. This legend created such characters as Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk, X-Men, Daredevil, I would be here all day if I were to list every character Stan Lee created for Marvel Comics. This is truly a sad day. Rest in peace Stan Lee. Excelsior!Brandonbaker01 (talk) 22:53, November 12, 2018 (UTC)

Spider-Man (2018 Video Game)

After years of waiting the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game is finally out. I finally beat the main story last night but I still have much more to do with all the side missions in the game. I really enjoied the game. At times it could be really challenging but it was still fun to play. It was a very interesting story that put a spin on Dr. Octopus's origin. I also liked the redesigns that were made to Spider-Man's costume (with the big white spider) and his enemies. Without giving away any spoilers with the way the game ended I am excited for a sequel. Even though I have beat the main story I still have much to do with all the side missions spread through New York City.Brandonbaker01 (talk) 17:31, September 13, 2018 (UTC)

Spiderman TAS Season 6

Here is what I would have loved to have seen in Spiderman: The Animated Series. Here's some I could think of.

Plot Twists-Instead of Jason Macendale being the Hobgoblin, Richard Fisk was due to wanting to takeover his father's empire. It was originally planned in the comic books for Richard Fisk to be the Hobgoblin and Roderick Kingsley to be the Rose. Kingsley becomes the Rose in this version. Like in the comics, Roderick Kingsley is a fashion designer and billionaire, who has criminal underworld connections as the Rose and had come about his wealth through unethical business practices and corporate raiding. Coincidentally, Kingsley was also the employer of Mary Jane Watson for a time. The real Mary Jane returns, learns Peter's secret, an…

Meeting Rob Paulsen

So this past weekend (4-7-18) I went to Dallas, Texas and attended the FanExo. I got to meet some amazing people such as Chuck Norris, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, and of course the one and only Rob Paulsen. He was such a nice guy and was kind enough to record a video for me which I posted on the home page. Honestly out of all the big name stars that were there my two favorites to meet were Rob Paulsen and Anthony Daniels. They were both so nice. I'm sure the others were nice guys also but unfortunately I didn't get much of a chance to talk to them. I hope I can go again next year.

George Takei says Doctor Strange casting is insulting

Over the weekend Star Trek actor, George Tekei, has gone on Facebook and posted a rant against Marvel Studio's explanation for casting Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in the Doctor Strange film, calling their reason a "red herring."

Swinton was cast as the Ancient One to not offend the Chinese who are major movie goers and could greatly affect Doctor Strange's performance at the box office.

"This backpedaling is nearly as cringeworthy as the casting," Takei said. "Marvel must think we're all idiots."

In response to the reasoning behind the ethnicity change of the Ancient One by screenwriter Robert Cargill, Takei wrote: "Marvel already addressed the Tibetan question by setting the action and the Ancient One in Kathmandu, Nepal in the film. It…

Scrapped plans for Amazing Spider-Man 3

Originally there was going to be a post credit scene at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In the scene Gustav Fiers would have gone to a secret level in OsCorp and walked up to Norman Osborn's frozen, decapitated head and said "Wake up old friend." This would have set up Norman Osborn's return for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but of course the sequal was cancelled.

The top ten best episodes of Spider-Man: The Animated Series

This is my opinion of the top ten episodes of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. This is not a definitive list. Feel free to add your top ten lists in the comments below. This list is also in no particular order.

  1. The Alien Costume, Part II: This in my opinion this was one of the best episodes of season one. This episode wasn't the standard hero vs. villain story that most of the season one episodes followed. In this episode Spider-Man was fighting himself, or rather the alien symbiote that was turning him evil. Also Spider-Man almost committed murder! You don't see that in many episodes, not just in Spider-Man: The Animated Series but in all other Spider-Man cartoons. This episode also led into the first appearance of one of Spider-Man's most…

Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends theme song lyrics

I just discovered the coolest thing on the Spider-Man: The Animated Series facebook page. For those of you that have watched Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends you know that the opening theme is just music with a narration. However, I bet you didn't known that a version of the song was written with lyrics. The song was written and composed by Johnny Douglas who also composed the music for Transformers and G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. In 1981 the song was released on a 45rpm

Lyrics

Spider-Man spins, Spider-Man wins every time.

Helping good friends bring to the war against crime.

Shooting his web he can fly on to the group hordes to the ground.

Spidey has friends, friends who can come to his aide.

Firestar flies, Iceman glides never afraid.

Toge…

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opening day

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is proving to be out of this world, breaking another industry record with a $100 million-plus Friday — the first triple-digit-million day in box office history. Insiders tell TheWarp that the tally could reach as high as $130 million by the time Friday night becomes Saturday morning.

This tops the previous $91.1 million record held by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" in July 2011. "The Force Awakens" is also on track to blow past the opening weekend record set by "Jurassic World" in June.

Because "The Force Awakens" is entering uncharted box office territory, typical moviegoing patterns make it difficult to forecast where the film's opening weekend tally may wind up. After all, there were long lines …

The Warrior

The Warrior is a short story written by Christopher Daniel Barnes that was released in 2013.

The Warrior is a short story exploring the psychology and sociology of post-traumatic stress disorder within the context of a fantasy setting. The story is meant to address the struggles that societies and individuals face when dealing with the myriad horrors of war and the challenges inherent to reintegrating the soldier into the larger community of the peaceful civic body. Religion, government, and caste structure have all played their parts in attempting to solve this dilemma, and The Warrior is one perspective on how these elements have both helped and hindered such efforts.

WARNING: The Warrior is intended for adult readers and contains graphic …

Spider-Man (2017/Marvel Cinematic Universe) plot rumors

Note: These are just rumors for the plot and should be taken with a grain of salt. Given how secretive Marvel Studios is more then likley these rumors will not be true.

The main villain will actually be Norman Osborn with J. Jonah Jameson and Scorpion also being featured. The film will have him declaring Spider-Man a public menace and placing a very public bounty on his head. The bounty draws out various criminals . Many of these criminals will not become the villains they become, but we will see Sandman, Electro, and even Mysterio before they become villains. Jonah hires Mac Gargan, who is not Scorpion yet but rather a P.I.

During the tailing of Spider-Man, Gargan starts to learn more about Spider-Man and gets close to finding out who he is…

Mark Hamill: Harrison didn't know about this plot twist, Obi-Wan was supposed to be the villain

According to Mark Hamill, until the screening of The Empire strikes Back, Harrison Ford had no idea that Darth Vader was in fact Luke's father due to a Non-Disclosure Agreement .

I didn't tell Harrison, or my wife because it would be terrible if she said something to a fan and it got out.
When we saw the first screening Harrison turned to me and said "You never told me that."

That is pretty crazy to know just how secretive Lucasfilm was with perhaps the biggest plot twist EVER! It was definitely a lot easier to keep a secret in the 70's. In today's world, it seems as if every plot twist is spoiled one way or another online, unless you are Star Wars of course.Brandonbaker01 (talk) 16:52, December 13, 2015 (UTC)
